The last time, I hugged you

The last time, I hugged you

You said, "I will see you in a few days".

After a few days l called you and ask, "did you see the news?"

You said, 'YES!'

We both tried to seek comfort in the silence that followed.

You told me, "Don't worry, it's just a matter of a few weeks

But soon the news of the extension of your absence came.

You asked me to promise you that fear will not enter the doors of our heart

That we will only hold each other to sleep, when we meet

I said, 'OKAY!'

But held fears in my arms to sleep that night,

I dealt with myself that distance was just a state of mind.

I promised you, a pandemic can only forecast the death,

not our love, LOVE

You said, "That made you smile and I believed you.

The last time I hugged you

I had not known

It would be so long

till hug you again

I wish I had closed my eyes longer

and held your waist tighter.

So till I hug you again,

I will not tune into the news

I will sleep to the memory of your hair on my face.
