In life, we experience relationships,
While some may last an eternity,
Others will seem to fail in the first few exchange of words.
You will encounter scarred souls that will befriend you
As they prepare to reap the benefits of what you sow.
As well as genuine folks that will only ever want to be there for you
As you partake in your life lessons you will make friends
Some of which you will deem better than others
The family will always be your family
And strangers will always carry with them the potential to be one.
But no matter the dynamics of the relationship whether good or bad,
there will always be that one common factor, that one common
denominator that every individual can look upon and say "You were there"
You were there when you were at your happiest and all you wanted was for that feeling to last forever.
And you were there when life seemed pointless and you told yourself you couldn't do it anymore.
You were there when your first love gave you a sense of hope that lifted you above the clouds.
And you were there when that first love became your very first heartbreak pulling you back down to the grounds.
You were there as new relations were mended,
And you were there when the people you counted on the most...walked out
So if there's anybody that is more deserving of your love; IT IS YOU.
You have to stay by your side through thick and thin
It was you who never gave up on your soul
You fought till the end as your best friend
You are family to yourself
So do yourself a favor...
Love yourself just as you try to love others
and acknowledge your presence in your life.
