I think often about us. about our similarities as well as our differences.
I think a lot about what it is to be human, and what it means to be alive.
I realize we are plagued by ourselves.
Our own systems, statuses, and obsessions with separation,
More often than not we fail to realize our differences are what make us who we are
we are nothing alike and one in the same
we are spread all across this planet but we are here together
And no race, religion, class, or color
will shadow a truth that this earth was gifted to us all
I try to remind myself
there is a story behind each set of eyes,
a foreign perspective within each mind,
and I am no better or worse, just different
there is something to learn from everything
there is something to love in everyone
and love, as cliched as it’s become, is what will save us all
we have an opportunity here to save the world
not one man or a grouped many,
but all of us, each person a small part of a larger whole
we will not be jaded by the pain this world has caused
we will lead with love
each of us superheroes without capes
flying in to save the day
not from burning buildings or falling bridges
but from ourselves
I know, it is hard to be kind to a world that has not been kind to you
It’s much easier to grow cold when warmth is treated as weakness
But look into the eyes of a child who has been raised with love
You will see everything it takes to save this planet
The death of humanity will be our loss of humanity
this life is entirely yours to live
but you share this experience with everything that is alive with you
Find comfort knowing you have never been nor will you ever be alone
We are here together
We have built societies that ration happiness by class
We have built classes that create machines out of souls
We have lost sight of what it means to be human,
We only open our eyes to those who fit within these circles we were assigned,
We are losing grip of our own humanity.
